TRENDwood ...or COPYwood?

If somebody asks you , which year do u think an Indian film will win an academy award, what will u say? I would say"i would rather not say". The film industry which produces maximum number of films in the world still believes in producing commercial films which are more of a business prospects for producers than a work of art. Directors opt for a simple formula film with a romantic love story, dhink chyak music, action in the air and emotional happy ending. I mean, how many of the crew or artists of a Salman movie can proudly say that yes ....this is my best work. Why cant the power houses of Indian film industry dare to step out of their shell and create a film which symbolizes only its main theme and not the usual masala movie?
Some of you might say no, there had been some artistic movies over the years focusing on different issues. but, to my observations most of these movies were small budget movies, which were and are produced in that fashion because they had a small budget. Some of these even did well on box office, but my point is why we don't see big production houses who has the financial boosters hiring quality actors and making an quality film? Some of them also tried to pretend to have made one of such films, but as usual they measured negligible on quality scale and vast on commercial scale. The thing i don't understand is, why do they have to have a love story blended in every movie? Take for instance a movie of an renowned Indian superstar who is playing a super hero in the movie releasing soon. people were expecting a sci fi movie with lots of action. now, when promos appeared hero was shown romancing his heroin, singing songs for her, then marrying her and having kids. I mean why cant he just be the super smart and powerful superhero who fights bad guys? And the romance stuff was not shown as necessary supporting part but as a major deal of the movie. And about the songs, why every time? why for every occasion? why for once every 20 minutes? I appreciate the songs and often like them but i would love to sit in a theater for 2 hours without hearing any needless songs. These days they even launch music way before they launch movie. The purpose is to start with hit music so that even if the movie is a big suck up, people would at least come to see two love birds flying around.
Coming to action flicks, are these action films or a lesson for us as of how concept of gravity is a myth and Newton was a biggest fool. And i have a major problem with rohit shetty... whats with the flying cars? are we in 2050 already? I guess he should export material which jumps in air as soon as u touch them to aircraft manufacturers. Some other bizarre examples were concept of a memory chips which fits in human brain, a red chip for feeding evil emotions to a robot. The second one was a real LOL moment. How can u correlate red color so called as "dangerous color" to dangerous robot? is it like because the outer portion of chip was red its hazardous chip. If it was either blue, green or yellow, the chip would have been just fine. Talking about the sport movies, let me tell u directors u can make big bucks from a total stupid love story but u cannot fool Indian crowd on a cricket based storyline. I mean, How are we suppose to believe that a batsman can hit six on every single delivery he faces. what a big fat lie! just learn from very few successful films like lagaan and aashayein. attention to details people! The comedy ones doesn't bother me so much. even if the acts are insane, they make no sense at all, but as long as u laugh.... who cares?
there are so many technical aspects present in production of a movie that we haven't even heard of, so the technology has a major role to play. If the budget is heavy then why not use these modern aids rather than wasting money on 50 different romantic locations. Of course this kind of turn over can only be expected from top producers and directors. Fear of failure puts shackles on creativity and forbids them from surprising the audience. I read this inspiration quote in a movie, Hollywood undoubtedly "If the change is needed, then the ones who has the ability to take action has responsibility to take action". I still hope i will live to see some Indian director grab one of those shiny gold knight statues one day announcing that Indian films industry from now onward will not be known only for its quantity but quality as well.
